A Tropical island lush with mangrove and rainforest terriestrial ecosystems and bordered by fringing coral reefs dropping off into the endless blue. As the coral reef around the island continues to grow outward and upward this added weight actually causes the island to slowly sink. This process is relatively slow and doesn't happen over night, however combined with sea level rise it does accelerate the evolution from islands into atolls.
